Role of Navamsha Chart in Vedic astrology
A Navamsha Chart plays a very important role in Vedic astrology. A Navamsha denotes one ninth part of a sign in the horoscope. A sign has a spread of 30 degrees and its ninth part comes to 3 degrees and 20 minutes. In southern part of India, Navamsha chart is invariably referred to along with the natal or any other type of basis horoscope charts. The effects of a planet imbibed in the original chart are enhanced or subdued, depending upon the strength of that planet in the Navamsha chart. A planet may get positioned in its exaltation sign in the main horoscope but if the same planet moves on to the sign of debilitation in the Navamsha chart, its strength gets greatly impaired and it becomes incapable of delivering good results. In a converse situation, a debilitated planet of the main horoscope chart going into an exaltation sign in the Navamsha chart, gets invigorated.Similarly,a planet being in a friendly sign in the horoscope, happens to fall in the exalted sign in the Navamsha chart. The benefic effects get further strengthen. When a planet is posited in a malefic house in the horoscope chart and also goes to a malefic house in the Navamsha chart, it delivers the worst results.
A Planet in its own Navamsha sign is equated with the planet placed in its own sign of the horoscope chart. At the same time, when a planet falls in the exalted sign of Navamsha, it delivers similar results to the sign of exaltation of the horoscope chart. A planet in the inimical sign of Navamsha is so bad in the inimical sign of the radical chart. Conjunction of planets in the Navamsha chart is treated in the same way as in the epoch chart. It is observed that the Navamsha chart is as much useful in the Indian astrology as in the Indian horoscope or other branch of astrology.
